XVII Vaasa Marathon (42,195 km) 8.9.2001 3:12:48 Sijoitus M 3. / Place M 3rd Lauantaina 8.9.2001 juostiin 17. Vaasa Marathon. Tämä oli viides maratonini. Sää oli hieman sateinen, mutta kaatamalla vettä ei missään vaiheessa kuitenkaan tullut. Olo oli ehkä pikkuisen flunssainen koko viikon, ja juoksu ei ollut lähelläkään nappijuoksua. Kolmen tunnin alitus odottaa yhä itseään. Suurin syy epäonnistumiseen oli tällä kertaa (ja ehkä kahdella edelliselläkin kerralla) kengissä, jotka olivat liian kapealestiset. Oikea jalanpohja kramppasi taas puolessa matkassa, mikä pilasi juoksun täysin. Uudet lenkkarit ostin huomattavasti leveämmällä lestillä, koska päätin, etten enää saa jalkavaivoja kenkien vuoksi. Ensi kerralla paremmin. Onneakin oli matkassa, sillä sijoituin huonosta ajasta huolimatta miesten yleisen sarjan kolmanneksi, mikä lämmittää mieltä. The 17th Vaasa Marathon was run September 8th. It was my fifth marathon so far. The weather was rainy, allthough it was never pouring. I felt a bit ill the whole week before, and the race was far from perfect. I still dream about that marathon under three hours. The biggest reason for my failure this time was my shoes, which were too narrow. My right foot became sore again after half of the race has run. My new pair of shoes are much wider. I desided that my foot problems are over. At least because of my wrong shoes. Better luck next time. Well, I had some luck this time. I became third in the men's class in spite of my pour time. That feels great. |
